Another month has ended, so it’s time to take a look at my income again! As an aside – who can believe that it’s June already?! I sure can’t.

As a reminder – I publish my income reports to share that it is possible to become location independent. It’ll require hard work and making some sacrifices – so be prepared for that – but it’s possible. Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for my income reports from the second half of 2015. The one thing I wish I had though of sooner is publishing these so you could all really see the growth from when I started. Truth be told, I didn’t really even track my monthly income until mid-2015 — mostly probably because I was afraid of how small it was. Just seeing the second half of 2015 will give you some insight into that. Once things get rolling though, working for yourself is great! Especially if you love to travel 🙂

Remember that income is listed in the month received, not necessarily the month earned.

May 2016 Reflections

May earnings were mostly from work done in April, and truth be told, between taking two classes for my MBA this semester and having way too much fun on my ski trip in Colorado, I didn’t take on as much work as I have been the few months previous. Which is okay from time to time. This mainly relates to my freelance writing income being pretty significantly lower than last month – in fact, that’s more than the difference between the overall income from last month and this month.

Because of the holiday, my affiliate revenue that usually pays out at the end of the month will actually be paying out at the beginning of June, so that makes a little bit of difference. It’s been a light few months for award bookings, and will probably continue to be so as I take off for Central Asia this coming weekend and doubt I will have reliable enough access to internet and phone that I will feel comfortable taking on more clients. I did have to change my trip a little bit due to a pretty wicked knee injury from skiing, so hopefully toward the end of July I’ll be picking up some new award booking clients again.

It was a good month for some cash-back promotions that have paid out from previous months and I think they next few months will be decent in that category as well.

Substitute teaching and online tutoring are more or less on hold until the fall, and the travel agency has been a bit more tough to actually start up than my business partner and I had expected. Part of the problem is we both just have too much going on in other areas right now.

Overall, a bit of a low month, especially when compared with the last two. I’m still thrilled with where I’m at now in comparison with this time last year. Keep a look out for my income reports from the second half of 2015 – they’re really going to show the progress that can be made in a year if you set your mind to it!
