Whether you’re heading somewhere for a business trip and get a day or two for yourself, or perhaps you’re heading to somewhere new for the sake of a wedding or other event, there are always going to be those times where you’re traveling somewhere but only for a few days or so. This can be tough for a lot of people because they assume that there’s no way to properly make the most of such short period of time. However, the truth is that you can actually squeeze a lot into even just a couple of days, you’ve just got to know how to make the most of your time. Here are a few simple tips for making even a short trip really count.

Minimise travel time

The biggest waste of time on any trip is, of course, the traveling itself. Sure, you’re never going to be able to shorten the distance between two places, but there are ways to avoid letting your travel eat into time you could be spent doing something more fun. One of the things to help with this is the fact that so many hotels are now springing up right next to airports. Places like the Candlewood Suites Miami Executive Airport mean that you no longer have to worry about getting to the airport on time. That way you can have a much more convenient and relaxing experience right from the start.

Plan ahead

If you know you aren’t going to have that much time, then it’s a good idea to plan how you’re going to spend it in advance. Pick a few things that you absolutely cannot afford to miss out on and make sure that you timetable them in clearly. Don’t fill up your timetable too much though. For one thing, doing that means that you’re not leaving any room for things to go wrong. (No matter how much you plan, things can always go wrong!) But leaving space in your schedule also means that you’re free to make some changes to your plans if something else that you want to do comes up. You should also try to familiarise yourself with how to get around certain places in advance so that you can be sure you don’t end up getting lost.

Keep it simple

It’s often pretty hard to resist the urge to get a little bit overambitious when it comes to your trip but, if you’re only going for a few days, don’t let yourself get carried away. Sure, you might want to throw yourself into all kinds of activities that would take up entire days, but it’s much better to stick with smaller things. That way you can fit more in, and you’re not constantly worrying about how much time you’re spending on one thing.

Of course, you should always be aware of the fact that there will be things that you simply can’t do. Whether you like it or not, there’s no real way that you’re going to fit the same amount of stuff into two days than you would a full two-week vacation. Being able to pick carefully how it is that you want to spend your time is one of the most important ways to really make the most of a short trip.
